the final concert of perspectives celebrates the grandiosity of beach’s and brahms’s piano quintets. beach was a prolific composer and pianist from the united states, who resumed touring in europe after her decades-long marriage ended and she regained autonomy over her performing life. brahms, originally from hamburg, spent the last decades of his life in his new home of vienna. a theme of change, whether forced or by free will, and finding home in new places after loss is central to this final concert.
